Call of Dragons Atheus Guide

Atheus

In Call of Dragons, Atheus is one of two available flying heroes that pair well with magical units - particularly the Celestial flying units from the League of Order faction. He is a perfect hero to pair with if you want to generate copious amounts of rage or if you want to have a higher march speed to be extremely mobile on the battlefield.

Atheus Hero Pairings

    31 Magic / 16 Mobility
    Alistair

    Offensive, Mobile, Single Target

Considering the League of Order faction, Atheus and Thea form an ideal hero pairing due to being the sole magic flying hero combination available. Their attributes include robust defensive and march speed bonuses, aligning seamlessly with a hit-and-run or assassin playstyle.

  • Liliya
    Alwyn
    31 Control, 16 PvP
    Atheus

    Single-Target, Skill DMG

This pairing is a suitable choice for players seeking a secondary mage march within the League of Order faction, especially when their Waldyr is already committed, such as in a Waldyr+Velyn combination, and Thea is not accessible.

Alwyn and Atheus share similarities in their skill sets, both excelling in single-target skill damage, providing defensive attributes, and featuring rage generation skills or talents. Building upon this synergy, our focus here is to maximize single-target skill damage while enhancing overall resilience.

Atheus Talent Builds

  • Atheus+Thea | PvP, Mobility, Assassin

This talent build aims to achieve rapid engagements with vulnerable targets, swiftly eliminating them. Its primary purpose is to capitalize on a substantial march speed that ensures no enemy can successfully retreat from your pursuit.

March Speed > Legion ATK > Unit ATK

With this pairing, your goal is to position yourself on your enemies’ flanks during battles, targeting weakened legions and stragglers attempting to retreat to safety. This build excels in evading most opponents who attempt to retaliate.

  • Atheus+Thea | PvP, Mobility, Assassin

In this build, we prioritize march speed over all other stats. The primary objective is to outpace all legions, except for Cavalry (due to their potential for higher march speed), and use this speed advantage to efficiently eliminate weaker enemy legions on the battlefield. This build proves especially effective for targeting gathering legions.

    March Speed

Utilize your exceptional speed to navigate over mountains and rivers, allowing you to pinpoint weaker legions, particularly gatherers. After defeating a few opponents, it’s likely that you’ll draw the ire of others who will chase you. In such situations, you may need to use the Homecoming Blossom to retreat to your city, allowing tensions to cool off, as you tend to attract a lot of attention. Avoid engaging in fair fights, as your talents don’t provide a significant advantage in 1v1 combat unless you possess a substantial unit tier and technology advantage.

Artifacts for Atheus

Legion ATK, Unit ATK, Unit HP, Unit DEF, Legion DEF, March Speed
  • Only use Visage of the Sanctus when pairing with Thea
  • Equip Homecoming Blossom when choosing a high mobility talent build and pairing with the intention of picking off weaker opponents, stragglers, retreating legions, and hitting gatherers.
  • Choose Magic Bomb and Phoenix Eye if you desire more damage.

Tips

If you invest heavily into march speed, you can escape almost any encounter, with the exception of Cavalry legions that have also taken enough march speed.

I want to use the Atheus+Thea combination for season 2 as well. Is the above target valid for season 2 as well? And I want to know which of the two trees is better.
