Call of Dragons Alwyn Guide

Additionally, Alwyn offers valuable scaling percentage buffs, such as increased magic attack and health bonuses, making him an excellent choice as a primary or secondary PvP commander.

Alwyn Hero Pairings

  • Liliya
    Alwyn
    31 Magic | 16 PvP
    Liliya

    Skill DMG, Continuous DMG

The most common reason for pairing Alwyn and Liliya is when Alwyn has been awakened, and you want to ensure his awakening skill consistently triggers from Liliya’s continuous damage. Additionally, they are the only duo that fully utilizes the “Insult to Injury” talent in the Magic talent tree.

Another frequent scenario for using this pairing is when Waldyr and Velyn are already occupying one of your legions for the same reason (Waldyr ensures that Velyn’s awakening skill is always triggered).

  • Liliya
    Alwyn
    31 Control | 16 Magic
    Waldyr

    Skill DMG, Support,

If you are not utilizing Waldyr in a “Waldyr + Velyn” legion, considering pairing him with Alwyn can significantly enhance your strategy and broaden your range of tactics. Waldyr is an excellent choice as a Deputy hero because of his versatility in pairing options. He seamlessly integrates into various talent builds, making him a valuable asset. In a normal attack build, Waldyr excels by providing attack and health bonuses, reducing enemy attack damage, and offering shields. Similarly, in a Control & Support build, he becomes an effective tool for weakening enemies with slows, and debuffs. And even excels in a Magic focused talent tree for increased skill damage.

  • Liliya
    Alwyn
    31 Control | 16 Magic
    Indis

    Defensive, Support

Indis and Alwyn form a formidable pairing, thanks to their complementary defensive passive skills and supportive active rage skills. On the defensive side, they provide combined benefits of counter-attack and normal attack damage reductions, health and troop capacity increases. In terms of offense, they possess potent slowing and increased-damage-taken status effects, making them highly effective against single targets or in small skirmishes. Alwyn’s talent choices allow him to generate rage and consistently utilize their rage skill. Together, they create a powerful duo that excels in controlling and weakening enemies while maintaining their offensive prowess.

This is a pairing that you should consider reserving as either your 5th legion or as a secondary mage legion to support your other legions.

Alwyn Talent Builds

  • Alwyn+Liliya | PvP, PvE, High Damage

This talent build focuses on enhancing the two primary forms of damage that mages consistently deal: skill damage and normal attack damage. Additionally, it includes increased continuous-damage, overall damage boost, and two powerful buffs – Health Increase and Defense Penetration. With this build, mages are capable of delivering substantial amounts of damage in both PvP and other scenarios.

DMG > Normal ATK DMG > Skill DMG
  • Alwyn+Waldyr | PvP, Control

This talent build is designed to serve as a supporting legion to complement your other four legions. Its focus is on applying debilitating slows and debuffs on your enemies while purging them of powerful buffs they might have. This weakening effect causes them to take more damage and be significantly slowed, making it difficult for them to escape once engaged in combat. If you prefer a higher damage output while still maintaining the slows and status afflictions, you can opt to swap out movement speed and rage generation talents in favor of increased normal attack and skill damage talents.

Slows / Status Afflictions > Movement Speed > Rage
  • Alwyn+Indis | Support

This talent build focuses on the consistent spamming of rage skills against your enemies. By investing talent points into every available rage-generating talent and progressing through status effects like slows, defense break, and silence, this build excels in immobilizing single targets and weakening them significantly. It plays a niche role in locking down enemies, creating opportunities for your other legions to deal substantial damage. For optimal effectiveness, consider pairing Alwyn with heroes like Indis or Waldyr. Indis provides high health boosts, legion capacity bonuses, and counter-attack reduction (which complements Alwyn’s mitigation of normal attack damage), enabling prolonged use of normal attacks to generate rage.

Rage Generation > Slows / Status Afflictions

Artifacts for Alwyn

  • If you are choosing to build a single target damage talent build use Infernal Flame or Magic Bomb.
  • If you are looking to play a support build use Breath of Jargentis or Tear of Arbon
  • If you build for heavy slows and march speed bonuses, to hunt single legions, use Homecoming Blossom for the increased march speed.

Tips

  • Alwyn’s skills and access to the Control talent tree make him well-suited for one-on-one scenarios and talented as a rage battery. He’s typically paired with Liliya or Waldyr, depending on your chosen talent build.
  • As a free-to-play player and in one-on-one encounters, an interesting deputy option to consider is Eliana. When combined with Alwyn’s “Oath of the Wellspring” and the Control talent “All-Conquering,” Eliana can help achieve a substantial 49% reduction in normal attack damage taken. If you opt for a talent build that prioritizes high rage generation, Eliana’s “Holy Heart” skill can ensure minimal downtime for the 30% increased Defense bonus. This pairing creates a highly durable duo that can catch opponents off guard with their resilience.
  • Another option for players that don’t have Liliya would be Ignis. Indis and Alwyn make a strong pairing due to their complementary strengths and abilities. Indis excels in marches that can generate high levels of rage, while her defensive bonuses and debuff’s make her great supporting fights against small number of targets. Alwyn provides excellent rage generation and defensively complements Indis with his own damage mitigation talents and status ailments. Their combined efforts create a formidable duo that can efficiently control and weaken enemies, allowing nearby allies to decimate the enemy.
