Call of Dragons Gwanwyn Guide
Talents: CoD Heroes Marksman Peacekeeping Precision
If your starting faction is the Springwardens, Gwanwyn is the starting hero and will have access to her daily tokens. Her rage skill damage is significantly lower than her legendary counter parts, but on-par with epics. She has a decent combined increase of 25% legion damage and 10% march speed and receives a substantial boost in DPS after Awakening. But she is lacking in any form of AOE or afflictions thus is considered to be an average hero.

Gwanwyn Talent Builds
Gwanwyn+Kregg/Kinnara | PvP, Single Target
This build emphasizes investing heavily in talents that increase the damage potential of your normal attacks.
Normal ATK DMG > Legion DMG > Unit DMG > March SpeedOur objective is to selectively target ideal opponents, such as mages, while avoiding becoming the focus of multiple enemy legions. Given that Gwanwyn loses her 10% damage bonus at 50% health, it’s prudent to inflict maximum damage before reaching this point and subsequently utilize Kregg’s movement speed to withdraw.
PvE | Single Target | Behemoths
Most players will have Gwanwyn to more suitable skill configuration and level than their legendary Archer counterparts. Since Gwanwyn has a skill that is only meant for Peacekeeping and her fourth skill “Pre-emptive Strike” falls off under 50% legion count, she is not considered a strong option in PvP. However, when facing behemoths, we can capitalize on certain advantages. Since we don’t suffer counter-attack damage, become primary targets, or take direct hits, we can better control our health above the 50% threshold and maintain the Pre-emptive Strike bonus for the majority, if not the entirety, of the battle. Consequently, we will prioritize enhancing our normal attack damage, as it serves as our primary source of damage during behemoth encounters.
PvE | Darklings
If you find Behemoth raids unappealing or are unable to participate in them, but still enjoy engaging in daily PvE content such as battling Darklings, Dark Creatures, Rallies, and more, then this talent build is tailored for you. With this build, you will crush Darklings, level up your heroes, and obtain items effortlessly. To optimize your effectiveness, it is advised to target Infantry and Cavalry Darklings to minimize the damage taken from ranged attacks. This approach enables you to remain in the field for extended periods while benefiting from the reduction in Command Point usage.
Artifacts for Gwanwyn
If you were fortunate enough to obtain ShadowBlades, that should be your artifact of choice. Remember that Gwanwyn’s fourth skill enhances artifact damage, so make the most of ShadowBlades’ active skill to maximize its effectiveness. For most players, Heartpiercer will be the ideal artifact. It provides great benefits for Gwanwyn’s performance. If you started as the Springwarden faction, you might already have the Bomb Flinger, which is a decent alternative to consider should you not have either Shadowblades or Heartpiercer.
Tips
- Gwanwyn’s active skill may seem like it deals damage over time, but in reality, all of its damage is dealt instantly, despite the animation showing 3 strikes.
- Gwanwyn’s fourth skill, “Preemptive Strike,” boosts ALL sources of damage by 10%. This includes normal attacks, counter attacks, hero skill damage, AND artifact damage.
- Ensure you retreat to your city once your army reaches 50% unit capacity. By resupplying your armies and staying above the 50% threshold, you maximize Gwanwyn’s potential during battles.
