Velyn, a hero in the game Call of Dragons, excels as a mage PvP damage dealer, making him one of the top choices in his role. With his awakening, Velyn unleashes devastating damage on up to 3 legions. Alongside his impressive area-effect damage, he offers valuable bonuses such as hero skill damage, magic unit defense, march speed, and march speed reductions, all of which greatly benefit PvP battles. Velyn possesses a unique ability to enhance the hero skill crit rate, which is not commonly found in other legions, enabling his legion to land critical hits when casting rage skills. Additionally, he possesses magic defense reduction, empowering other legions to amplify their damage. Undoubtedly, Velyn stands among the finest heroes in the game, making him a worthwhile investment.

Deals (600/700/800/1,000/1,200) magic hero skill damage to the target and 2 surrounding legions and inflicts Freeze, reducing march speed by 20% for 3 seconds. Each additional target reduces the damage dealt to each target.

Passive: While in the field, Velyn’s legion deals (5%/7%/9%/12%/15%) more hero skill damage and gains (10%/12%/14%/16%/20%) march speed.

Bitter Cold

Passive: All magic units in Velyn’s legion gain (4%/5%/6%/8%/10%) hero skill critical rate and (5%/7%/9%/12%/15%) magic unit defense.

Icy Interdiction

Passive: During battle, Velyn has a 20% chance to inflict Magic Defense Break and Freeze on the target, reducing their magic defense and march speed by (10%/12%/14%/16%/20%) for 3 seconds.

When casting a rage skill on a target that is Frozen, Velyn deals 400 magic hero skill damage and removes the target’s Frozen effect.

    Finally, finish upgrading Icy Interdiction. We leave Icy Interdiction for last because it only applies to one target, while the first two skills effect skill damage and overall combat.

Since most players don’t possess multiple legions at maximum tier and capacity, if you can only choose one mage pairing, this is the ideal choice when these heroes are available to you. There are various talent tree configurations you can explore, but the key objective in the most effective builds is to enhance skill damage and rage generation, enabling more frequent casting of rage skills.

    Skill DMG, Area-of-Effect

    Waldyr is considered the second-best hero pairing option for Velyn in Call of Dragons. To maximize their potential, it is recommended to assign Waldyr as the commander and Velyn as the deputy. This setup allows them to benefit from the skills and magic talent trees, granting high rage generation and increased hero skill damage. Moreover, when both heroes are awakened, Waldyr’s rage skill inflicts Freeze on the targets, followed by Velyn’s rage skill triggering Snowblind a second later, resulting in an additional 400 skill damage on the target. Alternatively, you can choose Velyn as the commander and focus on utilizing the Control talent tree, which provides access to potent slowing effects and other debuffs.

    This build enhances the damage output of area-of-effect heroes such as Liliya, Velyn, and Waldyr, focusing on skill damage and rage generation. It’s important to note that while we invest in skill crit rage and crit damage, Damage over Time (DoT) effects are not capable of critting.

Legion Attack, Mage Unit Attack

Velyn’s playstyle leans towards aggression, and thus, the recommended artifacts should align with this approach. Prioritize artifacts that enhance the key stats empowering mages for more impactful attacks, namely legion attack and mage unit attack. Ideally, select artifacts featuring activated skills that inflict area-of-effect damage, such as Phoenix Eye and Magic Bomb.

Tips

All of Velyn’s skills are extremely useful for PvP and PvE combat. You can begin effectively using him at the starting configuration of 5/1/1/1.
